Session description:

Intelligent Knowledge Engineering (analytics and mining) has become an emerging research topic in recent decades. It aims at extracting knowledge, information or models that can be used for decision and strategy making. The two main components of intelligent knowledge engineering are Analytics and Mining, used for retrieving interesting, novel, useful and surprising patterns from data, and performing queries to analyze, transform or visualize data and knowledge. Popular techniques from the field of artificial intelligence such as machine learning and optimization techniques are also often used to make predictable decisions in a limited amount of time. Several techniques have also been adapted to efficiently handle large databases and streams, commonly found in this big data era. This special session focuses on issues regarding intelligent knowledge engineering, including analytics and knowledge and pattern mining from data collected in real-world applications, that can be used to provide decision and strategy making abilities to intelligent systems. We welcome the innovative, creative, original, cutting-edge and state-of-the-art theoretical and applied contributions on this and relevant issues. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Development of intelligent systems

  • Data analytics for decision and strategy making

  • Knowledge prediction for intelligent system

  • Theoretical methodology for an intelligent analysis

  • Machine learning techniques for intelligent decision making

  • Big data issues for intelligent systems

  • Knowledge engineering for decision making

  • Security and privacy issues in intelligent systems

  • Image recognition in intelligent systems

  • AI for decision making

  • Optimization for knowledge engineering

  • Applications for knowledge engineering

  • Mining actionable and insightful patterns in intelligent system data

  • Visualization of knowledge and decision models
