Abstract
Today, advances in AI and data science research have attracted much attention from industry. Large companies, with their business needs, are now investing heavily on AI and data science research to stay competitive by conducting their business smarter and more efficient. While businesses become smarter, the same cannot be said for other parts of society and its people. There is therefore a need to apply AI and data science research to solving problems for social good. In this talk, we will share some AI and data science projects that aim to enhance social good. These projects exploit both the public and web data to develop data analytics technologies for extracting useful social and urban insights, and to create innovative solutions to enhance social well-being. We will also share challenges and valuable lessons learned in these projects.
