Special Session1

Knowledge Science and Intelligent Computing (KSIC) (PDF)

Introduction

Nowadays, the dependability on computers and its technologies on daily life has been increased enormously. The ability of systems connectivity and communication between them intelligently and securely is a big challenge. Knowledge Science is the emerging aspect of artificial intelligence for applying the research results into the real-world applications, espcially intelligent systems. In particular, the methods in knowledge engineering refer to the development of intelligent systems, which use knowledge, rather than data, to solve many novel computing problems. This is achieved by the application of computing techniques, closely associated with human cognitive processes, for transforming data into knowledge.

Besides, the intelligent computing technology is the method to solve problems in practice, especially in knowledge science. It includes a range of techniques, such as Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Evolutionary Computing, Neuroscience & Bioscience, Soft Computing, Roboticsm IoT, Big Data.

This special session aims to bring together professionals, engineers, academics and industrial people with all these different backgrounds to discuss and exchange new ideas and the latest achievements in developing the knowledge science and intelligent computing systems.

Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Knowledge Representation and Reasoning.

  • Belief revision and update.

  • Knowledge-based software engineering.

  • Knowledge-based systems in life sciences.

  • Knowledge engineering application.

  • Ontological engineering.

  • Logics of knowledge; formal analysis of knowledge; reasoning about knowledge.
